Dinner for a Dollar

Dinner for a Dollar is held at Hamden Plains United Methodist Church every Saturday from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. It is also held at the same time every Friday night at Grace and St. John's Episcopal Church, which is across from the Town Hall in Hamden.

Meals are cooked at the church by Hamden Plains UMC and other volunteer organizations. They can be picked up by going to the red doors on Church Street.

We serve a delicious, wholesome, home-cooked meal every Friday night 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

All are welcome. Suggested donation is $1,
but no one is turned away.

This ministry fills an important place in many people’s lives.

Some come for the delicious food.

Some come for the companionship.

Some come to volunteer.

All those who come, for whatever reason, are helping to build community.

The pandemic emergency has nearly doubled the number of people we serve every week, as we have had to switch our sit-down dinners to takeout only, and comply with new mask and hygiene rules during food preparation.

At the same time, with our help, Hamden Plains United Methodist Church has opened its own Dinner for a Dollar on Saturday evenings.
