PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
Unknown-1.jpeg
Take a Shawl or Make a Shawl

All are invited to take a prayer shawl from our shelf.
Each one was made with prayers for its recipient.

We have patterns and yarn for anyone who would like to make a shawl for themselves or for the shelf.

Based on Acts 9:36-43, our former pastor, the Rev. Dr. Brian Bodt, wrote the May 5-11 2025 devotionals entitled "The Righteous Shepherd" for The Upper Room Disciplines. In writing about Tabitha, who "was consecrated to 'good works and acts of charity,'" Pastor Brian wrote about the prayer shawl ministry of Hamden Plains UMC: "The prayer shawl ministry of my former church was such a ministry, knitters faithfully and lovingly creating blankets to convey God's comfort."

We extend the invitation to all not only to take a shawl from the shelf or request one using the form on this site, but also to consider making shawls as a way to bless others, as we are blessed by making them for you.
